Gas Grills

There’s nothing quite like an afternoon grilling out and spending time with friends and family.  Barbecue grills provide for fun times cooking and delicious outcomes.  Whether your steaks and burgers come out well though is going to depend not just on your cooking abilities, but also on the quality of your gas grill.  Looking for the best natural gas grills?  There are dozens of different options for gas grills, so it pays off to take a little time to learn about natural gas grills and your choices.  Let’s talk about some of the factors which should go into your gas grill purchase decision while shopping for cheap gas grills, and then have a look at gas grill reviews for the best gas grills.

Features to Look For:

  • Fuel.  You can shop for either propane gas grills or natural gas grills.  There are also charcoal grills, and you may even be able to purchase a gas charcoal combo grill.  If you purchase a natural gas grill, you will need to also install a gas line for your grill.  You may also find propane grills with natural gas conversion capabilities.  These can bump up the price by $50 to $100.  Having to install a gas line is inconvenient, but then again, so are trips to pick up propane.  The best portable gas grill will typically be a propane grill.
  • Cooking Types.  This is not the same thing as fuel type.  How a unit cooks refers to how the heat is transferred to the food.  The best grills cook your food fast and efficiently.  Some natural gas grills cook by conduction, while others cook by convection.  The newest thing in gas grilling is infrared grills, and many people consider these to be the best grills.  An infrared grill uses layers of stainless steel emitters to prevent convection and cook food using radiant heat only.  They heat up faster than other types of gas grills, and cook faster, too.  This can be great for cooking steaks or hamburgers.  Note that an infrared grill can pose drawbacks though if you are cooking fish or vegetables, because infrared grills may cook your fish and veggies too quickly.
  • Material.  Stainless steel gas grills, cast iron gas grills, gas grills made out of sheet metal and cast aluminum are all available.  Stainless steel is the most expensive, and in theory, the best, but not all stainless steel grills are free of components that can rust, so look carefully at what you are getting.  The best rated gas grills don’t cut corners on manufacturing.
  • Size and Portability.  If you regularly cook for a lot of people, you may want a large gas grill when looking for gas grills on sale.  But if you want a gas grill you can take anywhere, you might instead want a small portable gas grill.  Portable gas grills are ideal for camping and fun day trips.  With a portable grill, you can have a lot more fun.  With a portable grill powered by propane, you can cook anywhere.
  • Extra Features.  The best gas grills often come with extra features like specialized gas grill parts.  These gas grill parts might include multi-level surfaces for cooking, side burners, and smoker boxes for smoker grills.
  • Heat Ratings.  Pay attention to the BTU rating.  A high BTU number indicates that a unit may produce more heat, but make sure that the natural gas or propane gas grill you are looking at will distribute the heat effectively.  A higher BTU is more important for a larger grill.  For a small gas grill, a lower BTU may be just fine.
  • Accessories.  Do you have a gas grill cover?  Some units come with accessories like these.  Other times you may have to buy a gas grill cover on the side.  Gas grill covers can extend the lifetime of gas grills for sale.  If you look up how to clean a gas grill, you will see it can be a tough job.  A grill cover also saves you from a lot of this maintenance.  Grills with grill covers typically cost extra, but at least you do not have to pay for the cover on the side.
  • Cost.  The gas grill sale price for a natural gas grill or propane gas grill may vary significantly.  Inexpensive gas grills are available for a couple hundred dollars.  Expensive gas grills with a lot of bells and whistles may run you more than $10,000.  Cheap gas grills are not always the best.  Aim for value.
